2016 not only brought with it our first exhibition, but also our first international exhibition as we were invited out to Peekskill, New York in February to be featured in the “WORD” series at the Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art (HVCCA).
“WORD” is an exhibition, co-curated by Donna Mikkelsen and Sarah Connors, highlighting the works of over 60 different emerging artists incorporating words in their artwork, including The “I’m Tired” Project. Our twelve-day trip was jam-packed with numerous shoots with NY locals – whose pictures were then featured as part of the “I’m Tired” Project piece – and workshops with local schools, Youth Bureaus and academies, all in the lead-up to the opening of the showcase on 27th February.
The opening saw over 800 people through the doors of the museum, perusing the different pieces of work including ours. The night also marked the presentation of our Points of Light award from the UK Prime Minister for our work on the project by the British Consulate in NY – all in all, a surreal experience to say the least!
